Civil Services Examination 2013 - Notification

(SCROLL DOWN FOR THE TEXT OF THE NOTIFICATION) Civil Services Examination 2013 notification released. As expected, there's a change in the pattern of Mains examination. But UPSC has infact went steps further.  1) Increased weightage of General Studies,  2) reduced weightage of Optionals and Personality Test,  3) English paper is no more just a qualifying paper. Now Comprehension and Precis will have a weightage with the essay paper. 4) No mention of any language paper. 5) Now there will be 4 papers of General Studies, implying weightage to all the sections. The expectations from aspirants have certainly been pushed uphill by the UPSC. Al the best aspirants.. Hamid Ansari  presented the  “Moortidevi Award for 2010”  to eminent Urdu scholar Prof. Gopi Chand Narang for his outstanding work ‘Urdu Ghazal aur Hindustani Zehan wa Tehzeeb” at a function organized by Bhartiya Jnanpith here today. He congratulated Prof. Narang for receiving this award which he so rightly deserves. He also lauded the Selection Board which has chosen a litterateur whose work fully reflects the purpose and objectives for which the award was instituted.  Shri Ansari said that Prof. Narang revived Urdu language in our country through his writings and he is one of the foremost theorist, literary critic and Urdu scholar of our country. President’s Speech at the inauguration of All India Lokayuktas Conference 2012

I am happy to participate in the inaugural ceremony of the Eleventh All India Lokayuktas Conference which brings together Lokayuktas of different States to discuss ways and means of enhancing effectiveness of Lokayuktas. These All India Lokayukta Conferences, bring different stakeholders together so that views can be shared on the challenges and best practices. With such a wide range of experienced participants, I am sure the discussions will bring forth concrete suggestions and initiatives for strengthening Lokayuktas and making them more effective. 

Smt Panabaka Lakshmi assumes charge as new Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas

Smt P Lakshmi assumed charge as new Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas here today. Prior to her present assignment, she was Union Minister of State for Textile.  Smt Lakshmi is a fourth term Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Andhra Pradesh. She was first elected to 11th Lok Sabha in 1996. Besides serving on various Parliamentary Committees, Smt Lakshmi was also Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare earlier. Her interests include social service, upliftment of the downtrodden and the poor; especially women and child development.
